The foundation course behind every advanced body treatment
Swedish massage is where most massage careers begin, and for good reason. This two day course gives you the practical grounding you need before moving onto treatments like hot stone, body wraps and bamboo massage, alongside a proper understanding of massage principles, technique and how to run a professional treatment from start to finish.
An Anatomy and Physiology qualification is a required prerequisite for this course and must be completed before you enrol.

You'll begin with client consultation and professional communication, then move through the history and principles behind Swedish massage and the benefits it offers clients, so every technique you learn is backed by an understanding of why it works.

Then build your technique
The rest of the course is hands on. You'll practise a full set of Swedish massage techniques across the back, legs, abdomen and arms, working to UK professional standards until each movement feels confident and controlled.

Swedish massage is the required starting point for a wide range of advanced treatments. Once you've completed this course, you'll have the grounding to progress onto:

You'll be practising real techniques on real clients from early on, working alongside your tutor until your pressure, pace and confidence are ready for the treatment room.

Do I need any experience before I book?+
Yes, this one's required beforehand. Anatomy and Physiology is a prerequisite for this course and needs to be completed before you enrol. You can book our Anatomy and Physiology online course to get it done in your own time.
What will I be able to do once I've finished?+
By the end of the two days you'll be able to carry out a full client consultation and deliver a complete Swedish massage treatment across the back, legs, abdomen and arms, along with the aftercare advice you'll give every client.
What can I progress onto after this course?+
This course is the required foundation for advanced body treatments including Hot Stone Massage, Body Wraps and Bamboo Massage. It can also be upgraded to a full VTCT Diploma, so speak to your tutor about the best next step for you.
