Programme Overview:
The Level 2 Nail Services Technician apprenticeship prepares apprentices to work confidently as professional nail technicians within salons, nail bars, spas, retail environments and luxury treatment settings. Aligned to the Nail Services Technician Level 2 Apprenticeship Standard, this programme develops the practical skills, technical knowledge and professional behaviours required to succeed within the nail industry.
Nail Services Technicians deliver bespoke nail treatments while maintaining high standards of hygiene, client care, professionalism and commercial awareness. Qualified nail technicians contribute directly to the organisation’s reputation, client satisfaction and overall business performance.

Apprentices build a portfolio of evidence demonstrating competence across all areas of the apprenticeship standard.

The standard on-programme duration is 13 months, followed by a 3-month End-Point Assessment (EPA) period.
A fast-track route of 9 months (plus 3 months EPA) may be available, subject to prior learning, experience and employer agreement in line with apprenticeship funding rules.

A Nail Services Technician works independently or as part of a team within a commercial nail or beauty environment.
They deliver treatments safely, efficiently and in accordance with legal, industry and organisational requirements while maintaining high levels of client satisfaction.

• Applying and maintaining nail enhancement systems

The programme is workplace-based with face-to-face learning support in a dedicated academy environment.

Before entering End-Point Assessment, apprentices must:
• Achieve Level 1 English and Maths (if required)
• Attempt Level 2 English and Maths (if required)
• Achieve the mandated qualification: Level 2 Diploma for Nail Services
• Complete their on-programme portfolio
• Complete a minimum of 300 off-the-job training hours
• Be confirmed as occupationally competent by their employer -
The End-Point Assessment is conducted by an independent End-Point Assessment Organisation.
It typically includes:
• Practical observation
• Knowledge test
• Professional discussionSuccessful completion leads to achievement of the full apprenticeship standard.

Professional Membership – Supporter Membership with the Federation of Nail Professionals
Apprentices are supported to access Supporter Membership with the Federation of Nail Professionals (FNP), helping them begin building their professional profile within the nail industry.
Membership supports apprentices to:

• Begin building their professional identity within the nail sector
• Access industry guidance, updates and professional resources

Apprentices also complete an independently CPD-accredited COSHH (Control of Substances Hazardous to Health) course, supporting safe and compliant working practices within nail and beauty environments.
